Halt PKD-Studie (Halt PKD: Progression of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease), US-Amerikanische Studie seit 2006
Ziel:
zwei gleichzeitig stattfindende (simultane), randomisierte (eine Patientengruppe wird per Zufallsprinzip festgelegt), doppelblinde (sowohl Patient als auch Arzt kennt nicht das ausgewählte Medikament), kontrollierte Studien, um den Effekt einer Beeinflußung (medizinisch: Multi-Level-Blockade des Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosteron-Systems =RAAS) und aggressiver Blutdruckkontrolle auf den Fortschritt des chronischen Nierenversagens bei ADPKD im Früh- bzw. Spätstadiums zu beurteilen. (Laufzeit 5 Jahre)
Hypothese:
Durch die kombinierte Blutdrucksenkung mittels ACE-Hemmer (Lisinopril) + AT-I- Antagonist (Telmisartan ) wird das Fortschreiten von ADPKD verlangsamt.

The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of anti-hypertensive drugs telmisartan and lisinopril on PKD progression and its cardiovascular complications in two different levels of kidney function, GFR less than 60 mL/min/1/73m2and GFR between 30-60 mL/min/1/73m2.
ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitors alone or in combination with ARB (angiotensin receptor binding) inhibitors will be evaluated by monitoring kidney and cyst volumes by magnetic resonance imaging.
